Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a doctor’s referral to see an occupational therapist?

There’s no need to have a referral from your doctor to make an appointment with one of our experienced occupational therapists. Just fill in our contact form or give us a call. We have NO WAITING LISTS, so we’ll do all we can to see you as soon as possible.

Can I get occupational therapy support for my child or relative via the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?

The NDIS provides support for people with permanent and significant disability, offering them more choice and control over their funded services. If you’re under 65 and have a disability affecting your daily activities, you may qualify for the NDIS. To check if you’re eligible for support, start with the NDIS Access Checklist or call 1800 800 110 for more information. We can also help you work out what sort of support you’re able to access via the NDIS scheme.

What are the costs associated with occupational therapy, and are there any funding options available?

Our occupational therapy services charge the standard NDIS rate There’s also a one-way travel charge based on the NDIS rate. We also have standard fees for reports and communication with stakeholders (such as your support coordinator and other therapists).

There are three main options when paying for your occupational therapy:

  1. National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) - We provide NDIS-funded services under the Early Childhood Supports and Therapeutic Supports – Capacity Building Categories. We support families who are self-managed or plan-managed.

  2. Medicare - Chronic. Disease Management Plans - People can access Chronic Disease Management Plans to support you or your child’s care. Eligibility is determined by GPs based on the child’s needs. This plan provides a partial refund for up to five services per calendar year. Note that the refund does not cover the full cost of sessions, which must be paid in full before receiving a refund.

  3. Private Health - Our occupational therapists are Occupational Therapy Board of Australia/AHPRA accredited and registered hold Medicare provider numbers. This means you may be able to claim on your private health insurance for eligible services, depending on your extras cover. Ask us for the appropriate code prior to your appointment to check your rebate levels before your visit.
